Teachers say rebuilding trust with lawmakers will take time

After five sickouts — or work stoppages caused by teachers calling in sick to protest education legislation — closed Kentucky’s largest district, a bipartisan group of lawmakers said the bills were dead.

But it didn’t stop a sixth protest.

So why did nearly 2,000 teachers call out, forcing Kentucky’s largest district to again shut its doors?

In short: Trust is dead, too.
